Hello sister,

Being nicknamed The Baby Whisperer at age 10 solidified what I already knew — that a job in the birth world was for me.

From a young age, I've been captivated by the miraculous nature of the female body, especially during pregnancy and birth. It's a realm of awe and wonder that has always called to me. It took some time for me to find my footing in the birth world, but once I did, there was no turning back. Now, I have the honour of supporting families during this transformative chapter of their lives.

One of the most incredible aspects of my doula practice is witnessing the unique journeys of each family I support. While every story is beautifully distinct, there are common threads of immense love and the challenges that come with embracing the unknown. I am deeply grateful to be invited into such an intimate space, walking alongside my clients as their trusted sister in birth.

This observation sparked the creation of Sol Traditions—a birth support practice founded on the belief that you are the true expert in your birth experience.

Why Sol Traditions

The name Sol Traditions represents the illuminating power of birth as a sacred rite of passage. "Sol,” Portuguese for “Sun” references both the sun's life-giving energy and the soul-transforming journey of birth. "Traditions" honors the ancient wisdom of women supporting women through birth that has existed throughout human history.

Together, these elements embody my mission: to illuminate the path of birth with warmth and presence while honoring the traditional wisdom that lives within each mother.

My Approach to Birth Support

In my approach as a doula, curiosity is my guiding light. I believe that although we don't have to understand every intricacy of our bodies to trust them implicitly, knowledge and education empower us to marvel at the innate wisdom within us. I bring an open mind, seeking to learn from every birth experience and grow as a practitioner, ensuring the best support for my clients.

Birth is a sacred, holistic experience that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. I embrace this truth wholeheartedly. My practice is grounded in the understanding that these elements are deeply interconnected. By honouring the spiritual nature of birth and allowing it the space to expand, we tap into the profound beauty and transformative power it holds.

As a lover of energy practices, I bring intentional energy into each space I enter. This influence flows through not only my personal life but also my approach to doula support. I believe in the power of holistic healing and often incorporate herbs, essential oils, and homeopathy to create a nurturing environment for my clients.

I specialize in supporting homebirth not because hospital birth is wrong, but because I believe in creating conditions where intuition can flow freely, where birth can unfold naturally, and where the mother's voice remains central to every decision.

The journey into motherhood transforms you—that's the only guarantee. My role is to ensure you feel seen, supported, and empowered through that transformation.

Life Outside of Birth

When I'm not supporting birthing families, you'll find me around Sudbury with my soon-to-be husband, George, and our puppy, Angus. We love travelling and road-tripping and spend our fair share of time driving around Ontario, visiting family and friends. Summer finds us camping in provincial parks, though we enjoy spending time outdoors year-round.

On a typical Saturday, you might spot us at the local market for sourdough before heading out to explore a nearby trail with Angus. I find joy in the simple pleasures of baking, homemaking, and feeling the earth beneath my bare feet (when there isn’t a pile of snow on the ground…)
